The park's 1 1/2 acre limestone quarry, part of the Gore formation in the Glade Valley of Frederick County, is now filled with water and is estimated to be approximately 25 feet deep. The quarry provided limestone for the Fountain Rock kilns and stone crusher for nearly 80 years.

Significance: The LeGore Bridge is the only five-span stone arch bridge in Frederick County. It is located strategically, being the crossing of the Monocacy River between the New Midway, Woodsboro, LeGore Quarry area on the south and the Thurmont, Rocky Ridge area on the north.

The strike of the beds at Barrick quarry carries the white limestone under the limekilns toward the south limiting future expansion toward the north. The most recently established quarry is the Lehigh Portland Cement Company located south of MD Route 550 east of Laurel Hill. This is geographically the largest quarry in the Woodsboro area.
